On September 24th Takii celebrated her anniversary joined by 250 guests from the international horticultural sector. The party took place in the greenhouses and a tent specially equipped for the occasion at Takii’s premises in De Kwakel. The party theme was stimulating our senses, something Takii involves in on a daily basis. It goes without saying that all senses of the guests present were stimulated.
Takii Europe B.V. celebrated her 25th anniversary. Managing Director Ton Kuipers went back in time, showing the humble beginnings of the European headquarters at its current location on the Hoofdweg 19 in De Kwakel. During the past 25 years, the company has become a leading player on the European market in a number of vegetables and flower crops. Breeding and production of seed as well as logistics and marketing & sales now happen in Europe. In total about 150 people are currently employed by Takii Europe B.V., of which 80 people in De Kwakel. Takii has two more facilities in The Netherlands and three more in France, Denmark and Spain.
The parent company Takii & Company from Japan celebrated its 180th anniversary. The current President Mr Denichi Takii is the fifth generation Takii leading the company. He referred to Takii as one of the oldest seed companies in the world that is still a true family business. In addition to the domestic market of Japan, Europe and North America are the two most important markets in the world for the high quality seed of Takii. Both markets continue to grow and develop, hence Takii continues to invest in these areas.
The partnership between the Van Gogh Museum and Takii was confirmed during the festive celebration By Willem van Gogh who focussed on the partnership between the two companies. Willem is the great-grandson of Theo van Gogh, brother of the famous painter. He is currently liaised to the Van Gogh Museum.
