With assistance from the Netherlands Business Support Office and in collaboration with the Gujarat State Agriculture authorities, Incotec India has a major role in establishing and developing the Seed Valley concept in Gujarat, India. The official inauguration of Gujarat Seed Valley took place on September 10th during the Agri Asia Exhibition and conference in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India.
Seed Valley in Gujarat is based on the Dutch Seed Valley model but with somewhat different objectives. The objectives of the Dutch Seed Valley are the positioning of the seed sector as a highly innovative and economically significant international industry while ‘Gujarat Seed Valley’ aims to strengthen Gujarat state as a major seed hub. This hub will improve the economical position of Gujarat and Gujarati growers and anchor the seed industry in Gujarat and in India. Its activities will focus on promoting quality seed production for the domestic and export markets.

The seed sector is not only a fascinating sector to work in but more importantly it is a sector which contributes greatly to the economy. Seeds are the DNA of the food sector and other allied industries which depend on successful agriculture. They will be working towards common goals like sustainable growth, innovation and high quality standards that will help put Gujarat on the map in terms of economy and innovation and ultimately this will benefit the entire Indian agricultural sector”.
