Harris Moran acquires Mesa Maize, leader in high quality SE sweet corn hybrids

Harris Moran and sister company Clause (France) — together a business unit of Vilmorin & Cie (France) — announced today the acquisition of Mesa Maize, a sweet corn seed company located in Olathe, CO. Mesa Maize employs 12 people and enjoys the position of industry leader in the development of high quality homozygous sugary enhanced sweet corn hybrids with characteristic excellent eating quality and long holding ability.
“We are excited about adding current sweet corn varieties from Mesa Maize to complement the existing Harris Moran product line and also the potential that exists to combine the germplasm from both companies to make high quality and widely adapted new hybrids to meet customer needs” said Matthew Johnston, President and COO of Harris Moran,. “Dave Galinat, the founder of Mesa Maize, will become part of the Harris Moran team operating out of Olathe, CO and will continue to provide his knowledge and expertise as we strive to develop superior new corn varieties for our customers.”
The acquisition strengthens Harris Moran and Clause’s position in the sweet corn market and provides Mesa Maize access to the business unit’s well-established upstream technologies, and global distribution platform.
