Bratney Companies, a leading innovator in seed and grain handling equipment, has added Cimbria SEA Color Sorters to its extensive line of products. Cimbria SEA’s optical sorters, which come in a variety of models and configurations, utilize state-of-the-art opto-electronic technologies to provide the highest accuracy, ensuring the greatest product purity.

Cimbria SEA Color Sorters allow for an optical resolution of 0.1 mm, not only enabling them to detect even the subtlest differences in color and shade as they separate weed seeds and foreign material, but can also detect very minor infractions or blemishes in the seed that may impact its ability to germinate or perform.

Throughput capacities range from 1000 lbs/h up to 1000 bushels/h on a single machine. All sorters are backed by local and factory support not only during start up and installation, but as an ongoing service afterwards. Cimbria SEA offers monochromatic, double-camera and trichromatic configurations, as well as the latest technologies in visibility, NIR and InGaAs frequencies, and LED RGB broad-spectrum lighting.

Founded in Italy, SEA has been a leading innovator of opto-electronic sorting machines since the early 1970s, when it first introduced a prototype machine for sorting rice to the Italian market. The immediate success of the machine prompted SEA to approach new European markets and develop sorting machines for other applications, such as nuts, pulses and other dry food and non-food products.

Development of a new resonance sorting technology in 2004 enabled SEA to further develop its product range and enter new markets, including the seed and legume handling industries. In 2012, SEA became a part of Cimbria A/S, a Danish agricultural group with whom Bratney has a 20-year relationship, placing thousands of machines in the North and South American marketplace.
