“Is Unaccountable Regulatory Delay and Political Interference Undermining the FDA and Hurting American Competitiveness? A Response to Tim Schwab’s ‘Is FDA Ready to Regulate the World’s First Biotech Food Animal?’”
The July 24th issue of FDLI’s Food and Policy Forum features a first by Policy Forum – both an article and a counterpoint article on genetically-engineered (GE) salmon. Author Timothy Schwab, Senior Researcher at Food & Water Watch, explains why he is opposed to AquaBounty’s application with FDA for genetically-engineered (GE) salmon. In their counterpoint, Alison L. Van Eenennaam (Cooperative Extension Specialist at the University of California – Davis), William M. Muir (Professor at Purdue University) and Eric M. Hallerman (Professor at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University) detail their reasons for supporting the GE salmon application. The counterpoint article is provided here.
