Virtual plot tour demonstrates value of Trident Soybean Bio-Inducer from Precision Laboratories

Waukegan, Illinois, USA
September 3, 2013

Growers and consultants now have the opportunity to watch online as Trident™ Soybean Bio-Inducer, from Precision Laboratories, helps an Illinois soybean crop maximize its growth potential and nitrogen nutrition.

“With the virtual plot tour, we want to show growers the actual hands-on evidence of Trident improving performance throughout the season,” said Terry Culp, vice president of Seed and Nutrient Chemistries at Precision Laboratories. “Episode one shows the early season effects on growth and the roots and nodules that Trident is building. Episodes two and three will show how plants use that foundation to develop and create yield.”

Trident Soybean Bio-Inducer was introduced earlier this year as an evolution in soybean inoculant technology. Unlike traditional soybean inoculants, Trident provides proprietary bacteria that are pre-stressed, allowing for 90-day survival on the seed, improved tolerance of seed-applied pesticides and performance across a broad range of environments. The bio-inducer within Trident causes nitrogen-fixing bacteria to generate nodule-producing chemicals for rapid root nodulation. The increased nodulation provides enhanced nitrogen fixation, unlocking the full genetic potential of the soybean seed and promoting enhanced plant development. This results in overall performance for a yield boost of more than six percent, while leaving more nitrogen in the field for next season.

In episode one of the Trident Virtual Plot Tour, Precision Laboratories’ Terry Culp and Dr. Rob Osburn, technical manager for Seed Enhancement Products, discuss the science behind bio-inducer technology, and dig root examples from the Precision Laboratories plot near Sparta, IL. A second, late-season episode will illustrate how the early advantage helps develop stronger plants, more consistent growth and potential for enhanced yield. The tour will close with a harvest result wrap-up to present yield comparisons of soybeans with and without the application of Trident. Each video in the Trident Virtual Plot Tour series will be posted to the Precision Laboratories Agriculture YouTube channel and at www.precisionlab.com.
