AgGateway, the non-profit consortium of agri-businesses working to expand electronic business within the agriculture industry, recently launched a new Grain Council in order to identify, develop and implement standards and guidelines to bring eBusiness efficiencies to grain, oilseed and renewable-fuel companies.
“This marks an important expansion in the agriculture industry’s eBusiness efforts,” said AgGateway President and CEO Rod Conner. “These companies are dedicated to finding ways to streamline business transactions, enhance cost-savings, reduce waste and work for more sustainable agriculture practices.”
AgGateway now has more than 150 member companies working within nine major industry segments: Ag Retail, Crop Nutrition, Crop Protection, Feed, Grain, Ornamental Horticulture, Precision Agriculture, Seed, and Allied Providers (systems & software developers and service providers). Each segment is represented by a council that operates autonomously within the overall guidelines of AgGateway. The unique AgGateway structure allows the councils to determine their own eBusiness priorities and projects, and each council elects its own leaders that represent it on the AgGateway Board of Directors.
The new Grain Council will work to identify and define industry business processes, electronic business messages, and information standards that support those processes. Importantly – as with other AgGateway councils, the Grain Council charter includes the commitment from participating parties to follow through and integrate standards-based messaging into their business processes.
Charter members of the new Grain Council include Central Valley AG Coop, CHS Inc., Cultura Technologies, DTN, EFC Systems Inc., EMarkets Inc., Growmark Inc., Key Cooperative, MFA Inc., SSI, Telvent DTN Inc., and Triple Crown Nutrition Inc., among others.
More information on the Grain Council and AgGateway’s other councils will be presented at AgGateway’s Annual Conference in Albuquerque, November 6-8. More information on the conference can be found at www.AgGateway.org.
AgGateway is a non-profit consortium of businesses serving the agriculture industry, which helps member companies improve their profitability and productivity by promoting, enabling and expanding eBusiness in agriculture and agriculture related businesses.
