Yield-boosting microbial technology now available in forages

Van Wert, Ohio, USA
July 25, 2012

Advanced Biological Marketing has announced the addition of a new biological seed enhancement for increasing yields in alfalfa and clover.

Graph-Ex SA™ for Alfalfa and Clover will feature crop-specific blends of the same beneficial strains of trichoderma microbials and encapsulated rhizobia that have proven so successful, both in field trials and on the farm, for corn, soybeans and other crops. Graph-Ex SA™ for Alfalfa and Clover inoculant will be available soon for forage growers who want to do fall seedings.

“We’ve very pleased to be able to offer legume forage growers the same technology that has increased yields for corn growers with our SabrEx™ and for soybean growers with our Excalibre-SA™ seed packages,” said ABM CEO Dan Custis. “These products, as well as wheat, peanuts and vegetables featuring the same iGET™ technology, have proven themselves on farms across the Corn Belt, and their success in the marketplace is a direct reflection of those results.”

Trichoderma multiplies and thrives as the host plant grows, providing season-long protection. Their association with the plant induces gene expression and changes in plant physiology, including bigger root systems, to enhance multiple biochemical pathways.

As a result, forage growers can expect their stands of alfalfa and clover to have improved fertilizer and water use efficiency. In turn, this results in increased plant stand, improved seedling vigor, increased resistance to plant stresses such as disease and drought, and greater yields. Graph-Ex SA™ for Alfalfa and Clover will be available as a low-volume, talc/graphite-based, grower-applied planter box treatment which provides increased flowability, causing less wear and tear on equipment.

“We believe that Graph-Ex SA™ for Alfalfa and Clover will offer legume forage growers an exceptional value that is not available anywhere else in the marketplace,” said Custis.

Graph-Ex SA™ for Alfalfa and Clover will be available from local seed dealers or seed company representatives this fall.
