Iran: new minicucumber varieties for wintercultivation

Enkhuizen, The Netherlands
March 2012

During Ergon’s latest visit to Iran, it was early February, Ergon visited and observed its trials of new minicucumber varieties for wintercultivation in the Jiroft-area.

In spite of the very cold weather conditions the varieties of Ergon – ES 2870 F1 and ES 2871 F1 – are performing very well. Features of these two varieties:

  • excellent tolerance against cold stress
  • excellent fruit quality, a strong head and a balanced vegetation even during severe cold nights

The fruits are firm with a good colour. The fruits of ES 2870 F1 and ES 2871 F1 remain on length during the cold period.

Please have a look at the pictures below. Despite the extreme cold weather in January the plant is still open, nice and strong with a continuous production.
