British Society of Plant Breeders (BSPB) welcomes Helen Fasham as Chief Executive Officer

United Kingdom
October 5, 2026

The British Society of Plant Breeders (BSPB) is pleased to announce the appointment of Helen Fasham as Chief Executive Officer. Helen brings extensive experience of agricultural policy, regulation and stakeholder engagement, together with a strong understanding of the challenges facing UK agriculture.

We are delighted to welcome Helen to BSPB. Her expertise, leadership and ability to build strong relationships across industry and government will be invaluable as BSPB continues to champion the vital role of plant breeding in delivering a productive, resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.

At a time of significant change for agriculture, Helen’s appointment reinforces BSPB’s commitment to work collaboratively with plant breeders, farmers, policymakers, researchers and the wider supply chain. Through open dialogue and strong partnerships, BSPB will continue to support innovation, help shape effective policy, and ensure the plant breeding sector contributes positively to the future success of UK farming and food production.
