Genvor Inc. marked a significant milestone in its journey this month with the official opening of its new research laboratory at AgStart in Woodland, California. The sponsored wet lab space, awarded through Bayer’s prestigious Golden Ticket competition, represents a major advancement in the company’s mission to bring AI-designed peptide technologies to agricultural markets worldwide.
The laboratory inauguration brought together Genvor’s founding team, including Dr. Jesse Jaynes, UC Davis post-doctoral fellow and former captain of the Davis “Cell Raisers” softball team, and Dr. Clayton Yates, Endowed Professor at Johns Hopkins University. Both founders shared insights into the company’s evolution from academic research to commercial application, highlighting the potential of their BioCypher Algorithm platform.
“Opening this lab in AgStart positions us at the heart of California’s agricultural innovation ecosystem,” said Dr. Jaynes. “We’re not just advancing peptide science – we’re accelerating the path to sustainable crop solutions that farmers can actually use.”
The facility has welcomed Dr. Brianna Fochs as Lab Manager, who has immediately integrated with ongoing operations including equipment inventory, supply chain optimization, and experimental protocol development. Under her leadership, the team is also strengthening collaborations with Bayer’s LifeHub initiative.
The Woodland location strategically connects Genvor to California’s Central Valley agricultural community while providing access to UC Davis research networks. This positioning supports the company’s field trial programs and accelerates the validation of peptide-based solutions for disease resistance, nutrient uptake, and crop resilience.
