The Industrial Hemp Innovation Hub (IH²) has signed a landmark agreement with the European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA), creating a powerful alliance to drive evidence-based policy, research, and market growth across Europe’s rapidly developing hemp sector.
Many UK hemp businesses are proud members of EIHA, which serves as the unified voice of the industry across multiple sectors - from construction and textiles to food and advanced biomaterials. Combined with IH²’s research expertise, economic development leadership, and legislative engagement, this partnership represents a powerful catalyst for a British sunrise industry - one poised to drive innovation, generate green jobs, and position the UK as a leader in a low-carbon, high-growth economy.
“IH² is proud to lead the UK’s engagement in this transformative collaboration,” said Sonia Klein, Executive Director of IH². “Our strength lies in working with local, regional, and national governments to harness hemp as an economic engine for a low-carbon, high-growth green tech economy. By collaborating across the entire supply chain and engaging with communities, we are laying the foundations for a resilient, innovative industry. Together with EIHA, we are ensuring that the UK’s voice is amplified in Europe and that evidence-driven policymaking remains central to shaping the future of this dynamic industry.”
“Industrial hemp is a cornerstone of Europe’s green transition,” said Francesco Mirizzi, Managing Director, EIHA. We welcome the opportunity to work closely together with IH2. By combining our strengths, we are creating a unified platform that drives innovation, strengthens market access, and accelerates the collective vision of a connected, competitive, and sustainable UK and European hemp industry.”
This landmark collaboration signals growing momentum for industrial hemp as a versatile and sustainable raw material, with transformative potential across sectors - from regenerative agriculture and advanced construction materials to next-generation bioproducts - positioning hemp as a key driver of the green economy.

BACKGROUND
The Industrial Hemp Innovation Hub (IH²) is a UK-based knowledge and innovation hub bringing together researchers, businesses, policymakers, and innovators to advance the environmental and economic potential of hemp through research, industry partnerships, and innovation. As Secretariat to the UK’s All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Industrial Hemp, IH² drives research and advocates for policy development and recognition to build a sustainable hemp economy.
The European Industrial Hemp Association (EIHA) is the only pan-European membership organisation for industrial hemp, representing stakeholders across the value chain including farmers, processors, manufacturers, and researchers. EIHA strengthens the hemp sector by providing regulatory insights, coordinating industry advocacy, and facilitating collaboration across European and international markets.
