The European Industrial Hemp Association, alongside partners WAFBA and Experience Hemp, successfully hosted its 22nd Annual Conference from June 12th -13th at the Dorint Kurfürstendamm in Berlin, Germany. Building on last year’s success in Prague, this year’s conference drew record participation from policymakers, regulators, academia, and business leaders - underscoring hemp’s growing importance across Europe and beyond.
The event opened with a strong focus on regulatory developments in Germany, highlighting the country’s new legislative approach to hemp production and market regulation. This session fostered rich discussions on how evolving policies may shape the future landscape for hemp farmers and businesses both nationally and across the EU.
Over the following days, attendees engaged with a comprehensive programme covering:
- Breeding and Farming: presentations on hemp genetics, breeding innovations, and agricultural practices aiming to optimize crop performance.
- Fibres and textiles: insights into advances in hemp fibre extraction and applications, exploring sustainable textile solutions and industrial uses.
- Construction materials: exploration of hemp-based materials such as hempcrete and their growing role in eco-friendly building sectors.
- Value chains: discussions on the broader hemp value chain, including supply chain integration, processing, and commercialization challenges and opportunities.
- CBD: in-depth panels addressing regulatory updates, safety standards, marketing authorisations, and market dynamics in Europe and globally.
- International perspectives: dedicated discussions on the international regulatory landscape, market opportunities, and cooperation with global partners to harmonize standards and foster trade.
In addition to the rich programme, the conference featured an exhibitor hall where a selection of companies showcased their latest innovations, products, and services - providing attendees with valuable insights into the industry’s current and future offerings.
A key moment of the event was the EIHA General Meeting, where members came together not only to reflect on the association’s achievements over the past year, but also to network, exchange views, and stay informed about current and upcoming regulatory developments affecting the hemp sector. The meeting serves as a vital venue for members to actively contribute, shape priorities, and ensure transparent dialogues.
Special thanks go to the European Commission and the representatives of several Member States’ Ministries of Agriculture for their active engagement and invaluable contributions. Their participation emphasized hemp’s strategic relevance in agricultural policy and sustainability initiatives within Europe.
The EIHA team expresses deep gratitude to all attendees, exhibitors, sponsors, and partners whose commitment and enthusiasm made this conference truly special. Their collaboration continues to drive innovation and growth across the hemp sector.
