The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture (ITPGRFA), in collaboration with The Alliance of Bioversity International and CIAT, is conducting a survey to review the first draft of global descriptors for Pisum sativum L.
This initiative aims to standardize terminology, descriptors, and measurement methods, as highlighted in the Global Strategy for the Conservation and Use of Pea (Pisum sativum L.) Genetic Resources (Ambrose, M. et al., 2023). Peas have been selected as one of the priority crops by the Scientific Advisory Committee of the International Treaty for this exercise.
The goal of this survey is to identify an initial, minimal set of characterization and evaluation descriptors that will help researchers in identifying peas and utilizing accessions more effectively. This set also includes other important traits relevant to describing and utilizing germplasm.

Deadline: 20 November 2024
Completing the survey takes approximately 15 minutes. All national focal points are encouraged to share this invitation with experts in the field. The names and substantive contributions of all reviewers will be acknowledged in the "Contributors" section of the publication. The descriptor list will be published as a booklet in early 2025.
This activity supports the implementation of the Programme of Work of the Global Information System (GLIS) of the International Treaty, enabling experts from various countries to compile and exchange data held in different repositories.
