PowerPollen announces leadership changes to drive commercial growth and innovation

ANKENY, Iowa, USA
September 18, 2024

PowerPollen, a pioneer in pollination technology, today announced strategic leadership changes to accelerate commercialization and drive ongoing innovation. These changes position the company for rapid revenue expansion and development of multiple business lines, capitalizing on its groundbreaking pollination-on-demand technology to revolutionize crop yields and sustainability in the global seed industry.

Paul Schickler, Chairman of PowerPollen’s Board of Directors, said, “The success of PowerPollen has brought us to a pivotal moment in the company’s journey, at a time that row crop farmers need access to technology that can unlock the most value in the field. These changes reflect our commitment to maximizing PowerPollen’s potential as we move into the next phase of growth.”

The leadership changes, effective immediately, include:

  • Todd Krone, founder and current CEO, will assume the role of Chief Innovation Officer, reporting directly to the Board Chair with a dotted line to the CEO. As the co-creator of the PowerPollen technology, Krone has built a solid platform to explore next-level technologies and business opportunities.
  • Carl Cox, current COO, has been appointed Interim Chief Executive Officer. Cox will be responsible for assuring the technology is fully commercialized and will oversee business development and effectiveness, and operations.
  • Jason Cope, founder and CIPO, will continue to lead a team focused on evolving and monetizing PowerPollen’s intellectual property portfolio along with engineering innovative systems that can be quickly adopted into the market.

“Todd’s visionary leadership brought us to this point. Now, in his new role, he will ensure we continue to innovate to address emerging challenges in agriculture,” said Schickler. “I am confident this leadership team can take the company to the next level as we rapidly commercialize and scale, and attract new customers, partners and investors.”

PowerPollen’s patented pollination-on-demand technology has shown the ability to increase crop yields and improve the sustainability of corn, wheat and rice production. The company currently holds commercial license agreements with many of the global seed producers as well as patents in key agricultural markets. Previously, PowerPollen announced plans to expand into grain production.

Todd Krone said, “I’m incredibly proud of what the PowerPollen team has accomplished. We built a company that’s not only pushing the boundaries of agricultural technology but also making a real difference in crop productivity and sustainability. I’m excited to continue driving innovation and seeing our technology reach its full potential for farmers around the world.”
