Cotton Seed Distributors holds successful annual general meeting, approves key resolutions

Australia
June 24,2 024

Cotton Seed Distributors (CSD) is pleased to announce the successful completion of its Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held on Tuesday 18 June with an attendance of 45 members and attendees. The event featured comprehensive presentations from the Chair, CEO, and CBA, providing valuable insights into the company’s strategic direction and performance.

Prior to the formal part of the meeting agenda, one minute’s silence was observed in recognition of the passing of the inaugural Chair of CSD, Mr Frank Hadley, and past chair Mr John Grellman.  Both gentlemen contributed enormously to the success of CSD and the Australian cotton industry.

Key highlights of the AGM included the presentation and acceptance of the financials for FY24. The financial report underscored CSD’s robust financial health and its continued commitment to sustainable growth within the cotton industry.

Directors Matt Norrie, Cleave Rogan, and Louise Hill were due for retirement by rotation. Both Cleave Rogan and Louise Hill renominated for their positions, and Matt Norrie chose not to renominate. A new nomination was received for Andrew Parkes. Given that there were three nominations for the three positions, no election was necessary, and all nominees were duly elected.

Doug Rathbone also retired from his role as Appointed Director effective June 2024. “Doug and Matt have contributed significantly to the success of CSD over their tenures as Directors”, said CSD Chair Tony Quigley. “From Doug’s business mindset to Matt’s on the ground experience as a cotton grower, we will miss their insights skills moving forward”.

Additionally, the meeting saw the approval of a new Honorary Membership category for CSD. This new membership category aims to recognise and honour individuals who have made significant contributions to the company and the broader cotton industry.

Mr. Quigley expressed his gratitude for the continued support and engagement of the members and emphasised the importance of the decisions made at the AGM in steering the company towards future success.

The Board appointed John Stewart as a Director at the June 2024 CSD Board Meeting held at the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting.
