Certis Belchim partners with Novozymes on new Biorational fungicide

November 22, 2023

An agreement has been reached between Certis Belchim and Danish company, Novozymes, for the development and distribution of a promising new biorational fungicide product throughout the European crop protection market.

The product will control or suppress a broad range of soil-borne and foliar diseases across a wide variety of fruits, vegetables and ornamental crops.  Based on a new and unique, naturally occurring species of micro-organism, it is flexible and easy to use and has multiple modes of action, making it an important resistance management tool.  First registrations in Europe are expected in three to four years.

“We are constantly seeking new, effective solutions to assist growers in protecting their crops in a safe and sustainable way and our agreement with Novozymes opens exciting opportunities for Certis Belchim,” says Pedro Michelin, the company’s Product Portfolio Manager Fungicides. “This new fungicide will add a valuable tool to the armoury of many European farmers whilst strengthening our growing Biorational portfolio.”

“There is a pressing need in Europe to develop new biological alternatives to chemical-based pesticides, and we see this as a great opportunity to work with one of the leading players in this space,” explains Hans Ole Klingenberg, VP Marketing, Ag & Industrial Biosolutions at Novozymes.
