A Syngenta Delta Pro series Viola for famous violinist André Rieu

October 3, 2023

On his birthday on Sunday October 1, famous Dutch conductor and violinist André Rieu was presented with the newest addition to the Delta Pro series: the André Rieu Viola (Pansy)!

Communications specialist, Carolien van der Goes and Viola Breeder, Robbie Gieslink were there to witness the christening of the Pansy at the famous Vrijthof square in Maastricht (NL). After André christened the violas with champagne, both André and Robbie signed the certificate.

The plant with an intense yellow, red and orange flower was offered to the famous musician as a tribute by the Dutch Pansy growers. Wim Hillenaar, mayor of Maastricht, handed out the colorful gift. On the terraces along the Vrijthof square, the cheerful pansies will shine this autumn and winter.

André Rieu was genuinely interested and enthusiastic and noted that the Pansy has perfect Autumn colors. After the ceremony, passers-by were also spontaneously handed the beautiful Pansy.

Delta Pro

This year, Syngenta Flowers launched the new Delta Pro Pansy series.  Delta Pro are high quality Pansies with a short production cycle and a very high level of uniformity. On top of that, the frost-resistant plant maintains a compact shape due to its short flower stems. The André Rieu Pansy is the newest addition to the series and will carry the famous name with pride. The Pansy will be available in garden centers from autumn 2024.
