Canada - Alberta’s seed Industry to fight Fusarium with new website

Alberta, Canada
February 4, 2011

The publishers of seed.ab.ca, Alberta’s Seed Guide, recently launched a website dedicated to educating Alberta farmers on Alberta’s fight against fusarium. With issues-focused information, developments and testing updates, www.fusarium.seed.ab.ca challenges farmers to fight fusarium by making smart choices.

A dedicated web portal, the site contains a combination of grower-focused information including updated testing results from local labs and useful fusarium links. The site will soon include provincial fusarium survey results. Growers visiting the site also have the opportunity to enter to win free fusarium testing services.

“This is exactly what [Alberta] growers need to stay informed in the fusarium head blight situation. We’re very excited to launch fusarium.seed.ab.ca as a resource for growers,” says Lorena Pahl, general manager of the Seed Industry Partnership. “We are convinced the tools found on the site will be valuable to growers and will help create a dialogue on this situation in Alberta.”

The official publication of the Alberta Seed Growers’ Association and the Association of Alberta Co-op Seed Cleaning Plants, seed.ab.ca is Alberta’s seed guide. Published twice per year, seed.ab.ca delivers the latest variety information, performance trial results, comprehensive grower directories and timely editorial on the issues Alberta farmers are facing.
