Thirty-one (31) first-year Canadian college/university students embarking on their post-secondary experience in agriculture and food each received $3,000 in support from the Bayer Fund.
Emily Robb from Brandon, Manitoba was one of the successful recipients—selected based on her academic record and leadership within her school and community. Emily is pursuing a degree in agroecology at the University of Manitoba.
"I was elated to have been selected as a Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship recipient. The funding this scholarship provides will aid in covering the costs of tuition so I can be more focused on my studies in agroecology and less focused on the finances behind it, surely helping me succeed,” said Emily. “It will be extremely valuable in my first year of university, and it has created a solid foundation for my pursuit of agricultural studies in the future!"
Offered in Canada since 1991, all Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship winners were required to secure a nomination from a farmer or food professional and submit a short essay outlining the role they envision themselves playing in advancing Canadian agriculture in a sustainable way.
“Supporting young people in their pursuit of education in STEM fields, including agriculture and food, is critical for our company and Canadian agriculture,” said Trish jordan, senior business partner, government & industry affairs with Bayer Crop Science Canada. “Bayer is a strong advocate for connecting with, and giving back to, future leaders in our industry.”
The 2021 Bayer Opportunity Scholarship Program was administered by Universities Canada’s Scholarship Partners Canada—the leading Canadian service provider in the field of scholarship management.
Thousands of deserving students have received over $2 million in scholarship funding since the Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship program was first introduced in Canada in 1991.
