Carrie Wenger and Darci Opperman have joined Renze Seeds

Templeton, Iowa, USA
DDecember 8, 2010

Seed industry veterans Carrie Wenger and Darci Opperman have joined Renze Seeds to work in the company’s headquarters. “We are glad to have these two experienced professionals on our team,” remarked Craig Williams, general manager of Renze Seeds.

Wenger’s seed industry involvement began at home. Both of her parents worked in the seed business and she followed in their footsteps. Wenger’s first job was with Renze Hybrids and she has also worked for Midwest Seed Genetics, Stauffer, and Garst before returning to Renze Seeds in November 2010.

“I appreciate the family atmosphere at Renze Seeds,” Wenger stated. “While we are backed by Dow AgroSciences, this is a small, responsive company able to do what’s right for our customers.”

At Renze Seeds, Wenger is responsible for customer service including processing orders, order changes, and transfers. She also has a smaller role in keeping track of seed availability and inventory as well as some work in deposits.

Wenger and her husband, Bill, live on a family farm near Ralston, Iowa. Their daughter, Taylor, is 13 and active in many sports. The family enjoys involvement in their own sporting events as well as following the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Opperman joined Renze Seeds in December 2010 as shipping coordinator with distribution responsibilities. After having worked for Stauffer, Apex Genetics, and Allied Genetics, she has developed a keen interest in the seed industry.

“I was attracted to the size of this company, Renze Seeds’ name recognition in the industry, and the resources available because we are backed by Dow AgroSciences,” Opperman said. “I grew up on a farm and enjoy learning about the different farming practices in the rural communities we serve.”

Opperman and her husband, Jim, live on a farm near Manning, Iowa, with their three children: Carolyn, 16; Justin, 12; and Jodi, 10. Jim raises purebred Maine Anjou cattle and the family participates in many shows and sales each year. The children are all in 4-H as well.

Prior to becoming involved in the seed industry, Opperman worked for the City of Manning’s telecommunications department where she was responsible for customer service. While working in the seed business, she handled customer service, shipping, and distribution responsibilities.
