The Australian Cereal Rust Survey now has a new and improved website where you can find all the information about the survey submission process and the results of the survey in one place: https://www.sydney.edu.au/science/our-research/research-areas/life-and-environmental-sciences/cereal-rust-research/rust-reports.html
The new website has 4 sections:
1. Submit a sample
This has the information for submitting rust samples as well as soil samples for the pilot soil fungi study. The samples submission guides and form are available for download on the website.
For best results:
- Collect a good sample with lots of rust spores
- Please do not send samples in plastic packaging. This includes plastic parcel bags and bubble wrap.
- We also have reply-paid sample envelopes available free of charge upon request.
Note: There were some errors in the contact detail section of the recent rust reports- we apologise for any confusion this has caused. We have updated the sample submission guide, submission form and the website with the correct contact details (see attached pdfs). Please use these updated contact details from now on.
2. View the Australian Cereal Rust Survey Map
We now have an interactive map that shows the locations and results of rust samples that have been analysed by the Australian Cereal Rust Survey so far this year. The map is updated fortnightly with the latest sample results.
- You can use the check boxes in the key (left hand side of the screen) to select which types of rust samples to display
- You can click on an individual sample to see details (date collected, pathotype(s), location, variety)
- The map only shows samples that have had testing completed and a result provided.
- If your sample is not on the map, it is probably still being tested. Results are sent to contributors before they are added to the map.
- To maintain the privacy of sample contributors, all locations shown are approximate (usually marked in the nearest town.)
You can view the map here: https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mid=1VZPy5uGhC9RXfgp4TUuwHEm0H8QXRSWJ&ll=-33.028547998917425%2C135.44496325000003&z=5
