European Parliament report shows need for green biotech

The European Parliament’s Panel for the Future of Science and Technology has published a report showing that agricultural technologies, including biotechnology and crop protection products, are vital for protecting the future food security of 11 billion people. Referring to the latest methods of plant breeding, like CRISPR/Cas9, the report also warns that as a result of the 2018 CJEU ruling on mutagenesis, “Europe is missing out (on) a great opportunity to implement these technologies to reduce PPP use.”
