For the fifth consecutive year, BASF was named one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers by Mediacorp Canada. The annual employer ranking determines which companies lead their industries in offering exceptional workplaces that are progressive and forward-thinking.
“We are proud to be part of a global chemical company with a workforce committed to innovation and sustainability,” said Marcelo Lu, President of BASF Canada. “Our employees are here with purpose, and part of that is to help drive more sustainable solutions through collaboration with our customers and Canadian industries.”
The survey compares employers to other organizations in their field based on eight criteria: physical workplace; work atmosphere and social; health, financial and family benefits; vacation and time off; employee communications; performance management; community involvement; and training and skills development. BASF Canada was highlighted for its efforts in several areas including its Professional Development Program for college students and recent graduates, engagement for science education; environment, health, safety and community-based initiatives, and employee development opportunities.
“Every employee is empowered to actively shape their own development – making the most of their own diverse talents and role,” said Terri Howard, Director of Human Resources, BASF Canada. “For us, this means motivational and challenging learning opportunities, trainings, career patterns, and the opportunity for cross-organizational moves.”
This year’s Top 100 competition saw a record number of employers take part in the selection process. Mediacorp examined the recruitment histories of over 95,000 employers that it tracks for its job-search engine, Eluta.ca. From this pool, over 9,800 employers were invited to submit applications.
