A new suite of Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) ‘how to’ YouTube videos provides grain growers with practical assistance to control weeds this summer and beyond.
Controlling summer weeds and crop regrowth will be important to help conserve soil moisture for 2014 crops, but will also minimise the risk of rust damage to Western Australian crops in 2014.
An effective break in the ‘rust green bridge’ is of elevated importance this summer following the recent identification of wheat and barley leaf rust pathotypes that are new to the State.
The latest additions to the GRDC weed management series, featuring growers and industry experts, include topics relevant to WA including double knock spray applications; herbicide application volumes in stubble; nozzle selection; spray deposition; and boom speed for herbicide application.
The videos feature growers and industry experts and have been produced with technical input from ICAN Rural. They can be viewed at www.grdc.com.au/IWM-videos.
