Course on root disease risk management helps agronomists in Western Australia

Australia
November 6, 2013

New and experienced agronomists in Western Australia are encouraged to refresh their skills and knowledge to better deal with soil-borne diseases by attending a course on root disease risk management.

Organised by the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA), the event is supported by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC).

SARDI root disease expert Alan McKay says the course has been updated regularly since 1997 and is adapted to address local priorities.

Agricultural consultant Allan Mayfield will facilitate it and presenters will include national and regional research leaders.

A key presenter will be Steven Simpfendorfer, of the NSW Department of Primary Industries, who will speak about crown rot.

The one-day course, a prerequisite for access to the PreDicta B testing service run by SARDI, will be held at Technology Park in Perth on December 3.
