Australia - Course gets to the root of disease management
Australia
October 28, 2013
New and experienced agronomists in the southern cropping region are encouraged to refresh their skills and knowledge to better deal with soil-borne diseases by attending a course on root disease risk management.
Organised by the South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI) and the Department of Primary Industries and Regions SA (PIRSA), the one-day course at a number of locations is supported by the Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC).
SARDI root disease expert Dr Alan McKay says the course has been updated regularly since 1997 and that each course this year will be adapted to address local priorities.
Dr McKay says agricultural consultant Dr Allan Mayfield will facilitate the course and presenters will include national and regional research leaders.
Undertaking the course is a prerequisite for access to the PreDicta B testing service run by SARDI. Courses will be in:
- Adelaide (SA) on October 30 (half day update);
- Dubbo (NSW) on November 8;
- Wagga Wagga (NSW) on November 11;
- Horsham (Victoria) on November 13; and
- Adelaide on November 22.
