Ag Biotech Australia Pty Ltd has received Government approval for its new biological insecticide – ViVUS Max. The registration of ViVUS Max gives farmers a new environmentally safe and cost effective option for heliothis caterpillar management.
ViVUS Max is an advanced high strength formulation developed following many years of investment by Ag Biotech, with funding assistance from a Federal Government NIDP grant. The registration of ViVUS Max will lead to greater implementation of biological control of heliothis, Australia’s most serious insect pest that can eat its way through $200 million worth of grains, fruit and vegetables every year.
Sorghum grain is particularly prone to attack by heliothis. High grain prices will see a large sorghum crop this year and heliothis control will be needed to protect farmer’s yields. ViVUS is a key part of heliothis management in sorghum and its availability means big reductions in chemical insecticide use.
ViVUS Max is available for use across a wide range of crops and is accredited for use in organic production. Farmers can access ViVUS Max information and product from their local agricultural retailer. Additional information about its proper use is available on both the Ag Biotech and Queensland Government DPI&F websites.
Ag Biotech is an Australian company and a leading provider of innovative integrated pest management solutions to Australian farmers. It is privately owned by farmers and scientists with a focus on reliable, high quality biological solutions.
