Stop weeds in their tracks

Australia
August 9, 2013

Help is at hand for grain growers looking to maximise weed control in wheel tracks with a new Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) fact sheet.

Weed control in wheel tracks aims to help growers improve weed management during summer fallow spraying.

Factors affecting weed control in the wheel tracks of a sprayer include poor spray deposition, excessive dust or a combination of the two.

The fact sheet details how using additional wheel track nozzles for knock down herbicides (non-residual) can improve deposition and the level of control in the wheel tracks and adjacent areas.

It explains how dust is generally only reduced when soil moisture is present, speed is reduced or more permanent wheel tracks are used.
