Reducing lodging risk in irrigated wheat
Australia
July 17, 2013
Canopy management techniques aimed at decreasing lodging risk and increasing yield in high-yielding wheat crops have been used in Queensland’s first verified eight tonnes per hectare wheat crop.
Growers can learn more about managing high yield crops in a new Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) Irrigated Grain fact sheet.
The fact sheet explains how to reduce lodging by managing crops to limit canopy growth during tillering and how the effectiveness of canopy management techniques varies with variety, soil type and region.
