Vilmorin-Mikado USA - Responding to agricultural challenges with innovative and sustainable solutions

USA
December 18, 2025

At Vilmorin-Mikado, we believe that sustainability depends on concrete, field-tested and scientifically validated solutions. For several years, we have been concentrating our efforts on two complementary areas: varietal improvement and seed technologies.

Our goal is to provide professionals with innovative and sustainable solutions that are designed to meet their needs, those of the industry and societal expectations.

Genetic Improvement as a Major Lever

Varietal research is at the heart of what we do. By developing seeds that are more resistant to diseases (fungal, viral and bacterial) and other pests, we are helping to reduce the need for chemical treatments.

These varieties, adapted to suit diverse soils and climates, are also more tolerant to abiotic stresses such as drought or salinity. This means better yield stability and agronomic responses that address the challenges of agriculture.

Seed Technologies That Optimize Every Seed

Our teams are also innovating in the areas of coating and activation technologies, aimed at optimizing seed quality and agronomic efficiency, techniques that help the seeds express their full potential

Coating ensures good positioning of the seed when sowing and regular growth, while activation ensures implantation, homogeneous growth and better resistance to pest pressure.

Recognized Expertise in Biocontrol

Biocontrol

As a company that is deeply committed to sustainability, Vilmorin-Mikado has started proposing biocontrol solutions as a seed treatment for most of its species on July 1, 2025, in the countries where they are approved. Applied at the earliest stages of the plant cycle, these products protect seeds while preserving the natural balance of soils and ecosystems. By 2027, Vilmorin-Mikado aims to offer its entire product portfolio with biocontrol solutions.

By combining these different levers, Vilmorin-Mikado is reaffirming its determination to put science and innovation at the center of more resilient agriculture.
