This workshop will provide an overview of seed health testing methods using molecular methods. It will include various molecular assays for the detection of seed transmittable pathogens with reverse transcriptase PCR, classic end-point PCR, bio-PCR and real-time PCR.
Seed biology fundamentals; managing population size and isolation distances; seed production, harvesting, and cleaning practices for several vegetable crops; basic on-farm varietal improvement and breeding techniques; and economics of seed production.
