Saaten‐Union Recherche, a cereal breeding company founded in France 20 years ago by 4 of Saaten‐Union’s members, has just completed a major capital increase by its historical shareholders and by three French farmers’ co‐operatives. On this occasion, the company changes its name and becomes ASUR PLANT BREEDING. The letters SUR recall the company’s former initials and the letter A is common to the three cooperatives. 

Saaten-Union Recherche SAS is a French plant-breeding operation, part of the German group Saaten-Union. Saaten-Union Recherche is breeding common winter wheat, both lines and hybrids, for the West and Central European markets.

Thanks to its unique proprietary Chemical Hybridizing Agent (CHA) CROISOR, the only CHA with a valid registration in the European Union, Saaten-Union Recherche is a global leader in HYBRID WHEAT. Its hybrid varieties are grown over about 200,000 hectares across Europe (2012), with an annual trend of +15%.

Saaten-Union Recherche cooperates with major public institutions and private wheat breeders in order to create better hybrid wheat varieties to address the challenge of producing more food with less land and farm input.
