EMEA Production Manager

EMEA Production Manager [Full-time]
Permanent position

Context

Sakata Vegetables Europe is a subsidiary of Sakata Seed Corporation (Japan) and is responsible for the development and expansion of the activities across the EMEA area. With our wide array of vegetable seeds, we want to create a confidence-based relationship with our customers, working to our age-old motto of Quality, Reliability and Service. Sakata’s Production team performs an essential role in realizing and securing the reliability of the production in order to supply right quantities & quality at the right time.

Missions
This position is a challenging opportunity for a motivated Agronomic engineer to participate at both management and operational levels in our vegetables seeds production. Your main responsibilities will be to:

1. Management:

  • Develop, propose and support strategy for EMEA production to reach contract yields and seed quality targets
  • Prepare and follow up related budgets, monitor costs and efficiency of the production of seeds
  • Ensure the optimization of the performance, the efficiency and the reliability of the Seed Production Department
  • Daily team management
  • Represent Sakata in National Seed Association.
  • Participate to worldwide Production working group and to the Sakata Global Production strategy.

2. Production Operations:

  • Act as a technical leader for production improvements
  • Pilot and recommend the best potential production location to meet our product specifications
  • Monitor the performance of third party seed production companies and suppliers through visits, personal contact and records. Ensure the terms of contracts are respected by our suppliers and seed producers.
  • Evaluate all suppliers to ensure they meet Sakata’s standards and comply with the established norms for the International seed trade. Eventually take corrective actions or consider their future role as a Sakata supplier.
  • You will have to travel extensively across the region and worldwide (up to 40% of your time).

Profile

  • We are looking for candidates with a solid experience in seed production with minimum 5years of team management, preferably in vegetables seeds sector.
  • A 5 years’ degree level of qualification in Agriculture/Agronomic Engineering will be appreciated.
  • You will have the ability to work in an international environment considering project management as well as multicultural adaptation.
  • Good communication and organizational skills along with some degree of flexibility are also required to succeed in the position.
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing and speaking) is mandatory.
  • Computer skills are also necessary to complete all functions and knowledge of Navision and Agreo would be a plus.
