To support its development, HM.CLAUSE is looking for a Breeder - Watermelon based at the Khon Kaen Research Station, Thailand.

This position responsible for breeding watermelon to develop new lines and hybrid for South East Asia and South Asia and similar environment market

The position reports to Breeding coordinator based in Khon Kaen - Thailand 

Essentials duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Develop breeding strategy and Plan in consultation with Breeding coordinator, execute breeding plan, Develop hybrids, conduct and evaluate hybrids trial in and outside of the station
• Germplasm maintenance and management
• Manage breeding activities and closely working with pathologist, cell biologist, marketing and development team
• Manage purity of breeder seeds of all new and commercial hybrids

Profile and ability

• Master’s degree or PhD in Breeding & genetics / Horticulture or related field
• Have at least 5 years experiences required in Vegetable breeding crop
• Know about the crops, Breeding knowledge, Develop breeding plan and projects and manage them
• Good knowledge of population, quantitative and molecular genetics applied to plant improvement
• Knowledge in pathology and physiology 
• Genuine field and plant observation interest
• Knowledge in data statistical analyses
• Ability to propose and manage multiple projects
• Ability to work within a team and within a multicultural environment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organization and coordination abilities
• Close interaction with local R&D team to get good support to perform pre breeding activities of watermelon
• IT skills

Localization:

• Position located in Khon Kaen, Research Station - Thailand.
• Significant travel to interact with HMC collaborators and to visit trials

Languages:

• Fluent in English. French notions would be a plus.
