Breeding with vision

Do you have a passion for plants and can you develop competitive crop varieties in order to provide our Production and Commercial Departments with the proper products? We are looking for an enthusiastic and analytical Senior Breeder Watermelon with a strong orientation towards the market. The ideal candidate is experienced in agricultural research and is eager to learn more about watermelon breeding.

What are you going to do?
As a Senior Breeder Watermelon, you will contribute to the development of new watermelon varieties. Moreover, you will be actively involved in the market. You will gain market knowledge and use it to align the breeding programmes with the demands of the market. You will analyse breeding and screening data, linking market needs to breeding goals. Furthermore, you will be involved in the introduction of new varieties in the market.

Your power
You are an enthusiastic and creative entrepreneur with a long-term vision on breeding. You are on top of the latest market developments and able to translate these to your breeding program. In this process, you are able to connect with internal and external parties.

You have excellent analytical and communication skills. Furthermore, you are familiar with novel molecular breeding technologies and you are able to implement these in your breeding program. Additionally you are not afraid to make decisions and you function well in an international team.

Requirements

• The person will report to the Cucurbits CRD
• At least 5 years' experience in breeding
• Result driven and creative breeder with excellent analytical, communication and managing skills
• Excellent command of English language
