Agronomic Field Testing and Operations Intern

Location: St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Req ID: 01KIE

The production agriculture environment is more challenging today than ever before.  In this climate, maximizing profit on every acre is more important than ever.  Making that happen takes an integrated approach that includes top tier genetics, innovative traits, novel chemistries, biological solutions, and data generated in real-world situations that allows each grower to pick the perfect solution for every acre on their farm.  The North America Field Testing and Operations team (NAFTO) of Monsanto leverages motivated team members and cutting edge technology working in an environment of constant innovation to deliver the data that makes these integrated solutions a reality.

Interns in the NAFTO organization can expect to be integrated into one of our field teams and asked to design, execute, and ultimately present on a project which provides a data-driven solution that enhances our ability to offer innovative products to the marketplace.  As a part of the internship, you will be exposed to the same proprietary technology to which our researchers have access, have opportunity to work with our innovative scientists and plant breeders, and gain insight into the day-to-day responsibilities of our team members and the dynamic culture of Monsanto.

The successful candidate must be available to work full time during the summer internship term of May-August of 2018.

Daily activities may include:

  • Data collection
  • Leadership of part-time research personnel
  • Operation of on site and in field research equipment

  • Strong motivational, organization and problem solving skills
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary teams

Specific work site will be determined at the time of selection; interns will be placed in the following regions: North, North Central, South Central and Coastal South.

Requirements:

  • Current enrollment in BS program in agronomy, genetics, plant breeding, or other agriculturally related field of study
  • Sophomore standing or higher (but not yet graduated)
  • Cumulative GPA of at least 3.0/4.0
  • Ability to relocate for the summer if necessary
  • Personal transportation
  • Must be returning to school upon completion of internship to continue program of study
