Maize Discovery Breeding Intern
Location: St. Louis, Missouri, USA Reference: 01KH4
The production agriculture environment is more challenging today than ever before. In this climate, maximizing profit on every acre is more important than ever. Making that happen takes an integrated approach that includes top tier genetics, innovative traits, novel chemistries, data science, biological solutions, and data generated in real-world situations that allows each grower to pick the perfect solution for every acre on their farm. The Discovery Breeding team works to drive innovation through the development of novel breeding methodologies, product concepts, and technology solutions for row crops with the goal to increase our overall rate of genetic gain.
Monsanto is looking for an intern who is passionate about exploring new ways to approach plant tissue culture and transformation. As a Maize Discovery Breeding Intern, you will engage in a project that could have a significant impact at the interface of plant breeding and plant biotechnology. Most of the work related to the project will be conducted in a laboratory setting at our Chesterfield research campus, involving aspects of plant tissue culture and transformation. It will also allow for interactions and exposure to Monsanto plant breeders and geneticists, including visit to a plant breeding station.
The dates for this internship are May 14-August 3 of 2018.
