Research Scientist, Trait Characterization
Location: Hyderabad, India This position will primarily function in managing evaluation of agronomic and trait efficacy for transgenic rice events from the greenhouse through their subsequent advancement into regulated field trials for all rice transgene traits.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively in an interactive cross disciplinary team environment to insure the smooth and timely evaluation of transgenic materials as they advance from the laboratory to the field.
The position is located at the DuPont Knowledge Centre in Hyderabad, India
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary role in planning and timely execution of greenhouse and early field trials for regulated rice materials.
- Developing standard procedures for routine trait phenotype and agronomic evaluations.
- Providing phenotypic and trait efficacy characterization data needed to make event advancement decisions.
- Align workflow with internal partners to allow timely flow of materials through the advancement pipeline.
- Implement and monitor safe working practices including alignment of procedures with all regulatory and bio-safety requirements.
Competencies and Experience Desired
- Strong working knowledge of plant molecular biology transgenic trait and agronomic performance characterization methodologies preferred.
- Experience working in rice breeding and trait integration program.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead regulated field trials
- Demonstrated project leadership and management experience is critical
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to balance the needs of multiple projects
- Good oral and written communication skills both biologists and breeders
- Ability to lead and work within multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams
Educational Qualifications Desired
PhD in plant breeding, genetics or other suitable scientific field with minimum 5 years experience preferably in an industrial setting, or equivalent amounts of relevant education and workexperience preferably in an industrial setting.
