CONTEXT :

Thanks to new high throughput technologies, research generate increasing volumes of molecular, genetic, genomic and phenotypic data allowing agronomic complex traits, genetic structuration and plant/environment interactions studies. In this context within the HM.CLAUSE R & D department, we recruit a Biostatistician/ Researcher in statistical genetics for a permanent contract based in La Bohalle (France). The main mission is to develop and implement analytical methods, genetic models and statistical tools in order to give biological meaning to these data and develop predictive and decision making tools adapted to research and breeding in vegetables.

MAIN MISSIONS :

In collaboration with international and cross-functional teams of molecular geneticists, phenotypers and breeders you will coordinate requirement definition for statistical tools, analysis pipelines and genetic models. You will manage the biostatistic related project portfolio and collaborate with Limagrain teams to ensure design, development and internal deployment of these tools.

You will contribute to research projects supporting researchers and breeders in complex trait deciphering, genetic structuration and agronomical experimentations, with experimental designs, required programming and complex and big data sets analysis.

You will advise on methodological developments acting as a referent in quantitative genetics, population genetics, genomic selection ... You will take part in scientific emulation within HM.Clause and Limagrain Group.

JOB QUALIFICATION:

PhD degree in statistical genetics, biostatistics, applied mathematics/statistics, computational biology, deep learning or related scientific discipline with at least 3 years postdoctoral experience.

Strong command of experimental designs, mixed models, non-linear mixed models, multivariate statistics and non-parametric analysis. Extensive experience in R-programming language (mandatory), Python and Perl (good to have), MATLAB (is a plus), JMP and JSL.

Proven experience in statistics and its applications to quantitative analysis of large genetic and genomic (high throughput genotyping, next generation sequencing, transcriptomics…) and phenotypic data sets, association studies and meta-analysis.

Knowledge of plant breeding strategies would be an advantage.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with demonstrated capacity to work within international cross-functional teams, with strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to transfer knowledge.
You are rigorous and autonomous, understand scientific investigations and have ability to carry out several projects simultaneously.

The position requires to be fluent in English and French languages and will lead to 15-20% both domestic and international travels.
