Research & Development Manager

Location: near Versailles, France

French plant breeding company is recruiting its

Research & Development Manager

Sector: Research and breeding programs in innovative plant varieties

Permanent contract

Principal tasks:

  • To manage, supervise, lead a team of breeders based in different French breeding stations.
  • To define broad guidelines for research and objectives for the new varieties to be released in the many concerned species: field crops (cereals, pulses), forage crops, vegetables, minor crops…)
  • To elaborate and manage R&D budgets, investment, training.
  • To be involved in academic and transversal research programs that have an influence on the evolution of breeding programs and innovative new varieties.
  • To be a member of the management committee.

Education and experience required:

  • The candidate must have an agronomist engineer diploma and if possible a PhD or equivalent in plant genetics.
  • Very good knowledge of biology and breeding of plants with a professional experience of at least 10 years in the field of academic and applied plant breeding.
  • Good IT knowledge.
  • Fluent French and English and if possible Spanish or another language.
  • Real ability to manage and to lead a team.
  • A strong sense of organization and effective operation.
  • Very good interpersonal skills.

Salary:

  • Salary to be discussed + benefits
  • Executive status

Place of work: close to Versailles, France

Availability to travel (mainly in France and Europe).
