Farm Manager Assistant

Location: Murcia, Spain

Full-time permanent position in Spain

Context

Sakata Vegetables Europe is a subsidiary of Sakata Seed Corporation (Japan) and is responsible for the development and expansion of the activities across the EMEA area. With our wide array of vegetable seeds, we want to create a confidence-based relationship with our customers, working to our age old motto of Quality, Reliability and Service. Sakata’s Research team provides the maximum of support so that our breeding stations get the best results from ours networks. The department performs a crucial role in the definition of the future evolution of our business.

Missions

This position is a great opportunity for a challenging person to realize short term actions in a long term vision and international environment. Within the Research department and under the supervision of the Farm Manager, this position is at the crossroads of the mains departments Research, Supply Chain and Sales in the company. Your main responsibilities will be to:

  • Assist and coordinate the agronomic activities related to the different departments projects.
  • Responsible for field lookout and chemical applications and inventory of stocks, field data collection, sample collection and processing, reporting to the Farm Manager, as well as other associated duties.
  • Coordinate the application of chemicals with the different field activities, and also to insure employee safety.
  • Prepare project documentation and reports with the Farm Manager.

Profile

  • We are looking for candidates with a 2-3 years’ degree level of qualification in Agriculture/Agronomic, with a preference in Horticulture.
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years working experience in the vegetable industry is necessary.
  • You will have the ability to work in an international environment considering multicultural approaches.
  • 24*24, 7*7 mentality: although we respect the legal working hours this function can require an emergency action to fix critical technical problems.
  • Monitoring skills and capacity to manage staff.
  • English language skills are necessary.
  • Management of MS office are also necessary; databases knowledge will be a plus.
