We are seeking to recruit at the earliest opportunity a Field Corn Nurseries Project Assistant for our contra season breeding Station in Peru (Tambogrande), full-time basis.

Your tasks:

• Responsible for assisting and coordinating the agronomic activities related to the production of research in Corn nursery projects in regards to the integrated pest management.
• Responsible for field scouting and chemical applications, safety, calibration of equipment, record keeping and inventory of stocks   field data collection, sample collection and processing, data entry and analysis, training of personnel, reporting to the Farm Manager, as well as other associated duties. 
• Adapt a strategy in relation to the environment to include, soils, pest control, disease control and irrigation water quality. 
• Coordinate the application of chemicals with the planting, transplanting, hand pollination, harvest, and other field activities and also to insure employee safety.
• Prepare project documentation and reports. 

Your profile:

Professional Degree: agronomy, horticulture, biology, agronomic technician or related. 

• Experience in integrated pest management is required.
• Experience in practical management with corn farms and fields oriented in research projects.
• Previous hands-on corn nursery research project experience and technical skills are as important as academic qualifications.  Experience is desired.
• Spanish language skills; Must be fluent.
• English language skills are a benefit.
• Management of MS Office and databases at the intermediate level.
• Experience in planning strategies for maximum crop yield.
• Monitoring skills and capacity to manage staff. 
• Technical skills in assessing physiological traits, plant responses to the environment and / or field stress.
