North America Seeds Quality Control Leader R&D

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

The Seeds, Traits, and Oils (ST&O) business for North America is seeking a North American Seeds QC Leader to lead the US Seed Quality Control (QC) laboratories supporting Dow AgroSciences (DAS) and DAS-owned seed affiliates. This individual will optimize, leverage, standardize, and measure the effectiveness of analytical resources (technology, people, and equipment) to ensure that effective and cost-competitive analytical services are provided and that lab operations are conducted in a safe manner.

  • Lead all people processes to ensure the development of staff to meet current and future company needs.
  • Optimize analytical resources (technology, people, and equipment) for the Marshalltown, Iowa QC lab, with the vision of developing a world-class quality control seed testing lab for North America.
  • Provide oversight, support, and coordination with other DAS and affiliate seeds QC labs in the US and Canada.
  • Coordinate resources for analytical projects and activities.
  • Establish team objectives that are aligned with the ST&O business Analytical Strategy and Quality Strategy, and track goals, plans, and metrics.
  • Keep regular contact with client plants and businesses to assure optimum service is given.
  • Check for stakeholder satisfaction, and propose and implement improvements needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum MS degree in Agronomy, Seed Science, Plant Science, or life science discipline.
  • Education or training in seed physiology is preferred.
  • Registered Seed Technologist certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years total industry experience with 5-7 years direct experience in agriculture and 2-5 years experience in Seed Quality testing.
  • Experience with Quality Management Systems (QMS), e.g., ISO, Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) is desired.
  • Knowledge of Seed Quality Control procedures, including procedures for setting specifications and product release, is needed.
  • A good knowledge of US and international seed laws is needed.
  • Must have a solid understanding of plant and field seed production processes.
  • Experience in people leadership or team leadership is required.
