Seed Production Site Manager

Location: Maricopa, Arizona, USA

Your tasks and responsibilities

The purpose of the Seed Production Site Manager role is to manage site responsibilities and budgets, the nursery services program, the Agronomic Performance Trials (APT) and the cotton core seed increase (Core) programs. The Seed Production Site Manager will develop and set strategy with input from US Breeding team and the US Cotton operations team. The Seed Production Site Manager will also be required to develop the Arizona team with strategic intent and be directly involved with the US Desert Southwest cotton breeding efforts.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Seed Production Site Manager, are to:

  • Build strong functional NS/APT/Core team;
  • Develop and implement seed increase and processing strategy for the Nursery Services and APT/Core increase programs, innovating efficiencies and managing resources;
  • Coordinate program efforts with US Breeding managers, Trait Introgression Manager, Parent Seed Manager, Agronomic Services Manager and Molecular Breeding Manager;
  • Manage all Stewardship, Quality Management Systems and Safety requirements for compliance;
  • Manage short term expenses through the operating budget and manage long term improvements and innovations through Capital budget planning and implementation; •Manage Backup Seed Storage program;
  • Coordinate with on-site breeding team for new product development aligned with the US Breeding strategy within and across crops;
  • Identifies and implements new technologies to continuously improve processes.

  • B.S. (with 10 years of experience) M.S. (with 8 years of experience) or Ph.D. (with 4 years of experience) degree in agronomy, crop physiology, plant breeding, biology or related field;
  • Experience in process management;
  • Excellent organizations skills and attention to detail;
  • Excellent team contributor and team leader;
  • People and resource management skills that include recruitment and development of staff;
  • Critical, innovative and logical thinking ability to plan present and future needs;
  • Strong background in cotton agronomy and physiology, statistical design and analysis, laboratory seed processing techniques, and experimental and cotton production management;
  • Mentors peer/colleagues in area of expertise;
  • Applies state-of-the-art know how to solve complex problems;
  • Effective communicator in all mediums.
