Engineer, Seed Technology and Physiology

Location: South of France (in Uchaud, between Nimes and Montpellier)

Permanent Full-Time position 

Context 

Sakata Vegetables Europe is a subsidiary of Sakata Seed Corporation (Japan) and is responsible for the development and expansion of the activities across the EMEA area. With our wide array of vegetable seeds, we want to create a confidence-based relationship with our customers, working to our age old motto of Quality, Reliability and Service. Among the Supply Chain department, you will be under the responsibility of the director. The activities of this department, from production till delivery to our clients are essential in order to answer our clients’ needs, in quality as well as in quantity. 

Missions 

You will be in charge of developing the activities in Seed Technology and Physiology for Sakata Vegetables Europe, your main role will be to: 

  • Manage Seed Physiology and Technology development project within Supply Chain in cooperation with other departments to improve the performance of our genetics. 
  • Collect and analyze data resulting from Seed Physiology and Technology projects, make interpretations and recommendations to the different department. 
  • Propose and establish new protocols in Seed Technology in order to contribute to the global improvement of the seed quality supplied. 
  • Define procedures and working instructions linked to the activity. 
  • Realize technical operations: priming, support seed technologies team on daily operations in case of peak activity… 
  • Define and realize seed technology operations for lots produced under GSSP (Good Seed Plant Practices) accreditation. 

This position requires to work closely with the station’s teams as well as the other Sakata organizations in the world for settling common projects and global data exchange. 

Profile 

  • We are looking for candidates with a qualification level of MSc or equivalent in biology, specialized in seed technology/physiology, and a strong experience in this field of activity. 
  • You will have organization skills and an ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment. 
  • We are looking for persistent people, with high sense of details, having demonstrating relational and intercultural qualities. 
  • Good team spirit is necessary. 
  • Mastery of English and office automation tools are essential.
