Status: Internship
Reports to:  Station Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include: 

• Willing to learn how to operate farm equipment and implements used in the preparation and maintenance of research plots. 
• Participate as a team member in the Efficacy, GLP, Seeds/Traits and EcoTox Program which may consist of greenhouse, laboratory and /or field trials. 
• Assist in all tasks as required for each research trial, including site selection, planting of test crops, calibration of spray equipment, making pesticide and fertilizer applications, collecting crop and soil samples, and conducting evaluations of crops and pests.

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. Assist in maintaining the stock of needed supplies and equipment to provide efficient operation of trials.
• Provide a high level of communication with the Research Biologist and report problems and provide suggestions for improvement in a timely manner. 
• Abide by PPE (Personal Protection Equipment) matrix and maintain high level of cleanliness and housekeeping.  Comply with all SynTech Research safety procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications:    

• Education:  One to two years of college in a life science (i.e. biology, chemistry, environmental science, etc.) degree program, preferred but not required. 
• Experience: 
  • Agronomic background in crop production.
  • Working knowledge of farm equipment.  Should be able to operate and perform routine maintenance on tractors, disks, cultivators, tillers, planters, sprayers, etc.
  • Experience in performing scientific research trials, preferred but not required.
