Warehouse Manager

Location: Hollister, California, USA

Objectives:

United Genetics Seeds Co. is a global seed company with its core in development of new varieties of tomato, hot and sweet peppers, melon, watermelon, cucumber, squash and onions. Under the motto: “New Ideas for Better Seeds” we have grown and delivered our unique varieties to over 80 countries.

We are seeking for a highly motivated professional who can take its warehouse operations to the next level.  We are currently undertaking initiatives to upgrade information systems and procedures while introducing facility and equipment upgrades. The position will be key in building the foundation for mid-term growth by taking on initiatives to improve warehouse operations and coordinate cross functional activities with sales and production at the highest standard.

Job Purpose and Summary

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for all activities of Hollister warehouse, including inventory, receiving, seed conditioning, seed treating and shipping. Maintains warehouse in order and assures quality by developing and implementing procedures. The Manager is also expected to hire, train, develop and manage staff to ensure team work and efficiency.  Manages cost to budget and ensures all tasks are completed on time and delivery schedules are met.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • All warehouse activities including but not limited to inventory, receiving, seed conditioning and treating, fumigation, packaging and shipping.
  • Coordinates with all stakeholders for timely flow of information, and manages all inbound and outbound seed shipments to customers and from production areas.
  • Hires, trains and motivates warehouse staff, conducts daily, weekly, monthly meetings to ensure high level of team work and ensures objectives are clear.
  • Maintains warehouse in order and keeps good physical condition, and accuracy of inventory.  Plans, and implements annual physical inventory count and cycle counts.  Ensures all procedures are followed and implemented.
  • Establish and monitor security procedures and protocols.  Identifies risks and required action.
  • Ensures all Machinery and Equipment are in maintained in good condition. 
  • Sets priority for processing, packaging, and shipment in coordination with Inventory Control and ensures completion of work orders.
  • Achieves financial objectives by preparing annual budget, analyzing variances and initiating improvements

Skills & Requirements

The position requires hands on work of all warehouse duties and excellent team management skills.  Work needs to be well coordinated and documented, and will require strong communication skills.  Good knowledge of seed quality is required.  Fluency in English required and also in Spanish preferred.

  • Inventory / Warehouse management experience is a must.
  • Strong back ground in seed industry is preferred.
  • Bachelor degree or comparable work experience to perform the Job.  Degree in Inventory, Management, Logistics, Production Management will be advantage.
  • Experience in working with ERP systems.
  • Command of Word, Excel, MS Access or similar database.
  • Strong professional ethics, analytical skills, priority setting is required. 
  • Multiple tasking skills are required with good time management skills, and ability to anticipate.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in similar position.
