This is a unique opportunity for a “hands on” glasshouse grower to join our busy wheat DH plant production department within Limagrain UK based in Docking, Norfolk. We are looking for an individual to help drive the growing operations forward and progress to manage the day to day activities of a team involved with planting, harvesting and processing plants and seeds.
As Glasshouse Production Supervisor, you would be managing all aspects of controlled wheat crop production, including organising growing areas, monitoring and adjusting growing needs of the crop, identifying and handling pests and diseases and preparing and controlling irrigation systems. This role will also involve the supervision/management of temporary labour during the harvest season.
We are seeking an ambitious, driven and focused person who has proven experience with organising the day to day operations of a glasshouse environment. Someone who is “hands on” with good knowledge of plant husbandry. The appointed person will also require excellent communication skills and the ability to motivate a team. A flexible approach to overtime working hours will be required during our major harvest season.
Desirable skills
- Excellent planning and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of automatic irrigation systems
- A keen eye for identifying disease and pest problems
- IT literate (ideally Excel / Word)
- PA1 & PA6 Pesticide License
- Counterbalance Forklift License
- Full UK Driving License
