Senior Research Associate (11629BR)
Location: Johnston, Iowa, USA Pioneer Hi-Bred, a Dupont business, is currently seeking a Senior Research Associate in Johnston, IA to serve as an integral member of a research team focused on improving corn nitrogen use efficiency (NUE). This person will primarily support external NUE collaborations and will participate in all phases of design, execution and data analysis of laboratory, greenhouse and field experiments designed to satisfy requirements of external collaborations.
Responsibilities include:
- Physiological evaluation of transgenic NUE traits;
- Work with cross-functional groups to complete the experiments and meet the goals of the group in a timely manner;
- Work with the supervisor to plan and implement experimental protocols;
- Assume responsibility for designing and conducting experiments to optimize performance of NUE leads;
- Compile and analyze experimental data, prepare; technical reports and give group presentations;
- Manage temporary workers to complete experiments and data collection in a timely manner;
- Follow the safety and record/book keeping rules according to Pioneer’s policies.
A Master’s degree in plant/crop physiology, genetics or plant biochemistry and minimum of 2 to 4 years related experience or equivalent required. Previous hands-on experience and a thorough understanding of experimental design, standard crop physiological/biochemical techniques and statistical analysis required. Qualified candidates have excellent writing, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision as part of a research team. Previous experience working with transgenic plants in cross-functional environments is preferred.
